An Incredibly Important Photo Book Is Up For Grabs On Kickstarter
Remember the Love commemorates the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center
We’ve shared a fair few Kickstarter campaigns here on The Phoblographer in the past, but none are quite as important as this one. Can you believe that this year will mark 20 years since the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centers in New York City? For just a few more days, you have the chance to help bring to life a photo book that will help you get past the tragedy of that day. It will have you remembering the love instead. Michael Rieger, the creator of Remember the Love, was a historical photographer who worked for FEMA. For those that don’t know what FEMA is, it’s a government agency that helps during a time of crisis. Michael was tasked with capturing moments from ground zero in the days and weeks after the attacks. The images he captured were used by media outlets around the world and have been seen by millions.
This Kickstarter aims to raise funds that will go towards creating etchings from 20 photos captured from 9/11 ground zero. The etching will then go on display to mark the 20th anniversary of the attack. The images that have been chosen to be put on display and in the book show the dramatic search and rescue efforts. Also shown are the heroism, and of course, the sadness felt around the world. In Michael’s own words he says that they also show ‘the love that was there in the center of the ugliness.’
Never Forget
To get a hardback copy of the book, you’ll need to pledge $45. The book itself will feature all twenty etchings, stories, and photos of “The Towers” sculpture. There are 92 pages in total. The book measures 12″x12,” and it comes with a dust jacket and slipcase. Bump your pledge up to $80, and your book will be signed. $200 will get you the book and a signed print. For $400, you can get two limited edition signed chromogenic prints. The images are printed full-frame on 8.5×11 inch paper. You’ll also get a signed copy of the first edition exhibition book.
The events of 9/11 were terrible. It can be hard to look back on such terrible times. However, we must never forget what happened on that day. We must never forget about those who ran to ground zero to help save their fellow countrymen and women either. This project will help us remember.
