Statement: We Have Removed All Content Relating to David Alan Harvey
The Phoblographer has decided to remove all content relating to David Alan Harvey
On March 17th, Magnum announced it had removed David Alan Harvey from its membership. The decision was made after current members came together and voted to remove him – the vote prompted Harvey to resign. This comes after many serious allegations were made against Harvey. Women, whom Harvey mentored, alleged he committed various degrees of sexual harassment against them.

The Phoblographer is committed to helping clean up our industry. Too many photographers have used their platform to their advantage, even when it’s at the expense of the safety and well-being of others. We, and the industry as a whole, cannot and will not condone this.
When similar allegations have arisen, like the case of Joe Aguirre, The Phoblographer made the decision to remove all content relating to the photographer. We will continue to have a strong stance on this topic. As a result, we will remove all content we have published in the past relating to David Alan Harvey.
It’s important to note that there have been no legal consequences for Harvey at the time of writing this. And it is not the responsibility of The Phoblographer to say who is guilty and who is not. But when people put forward so many detailed allegations, we must support those who have suffered due to the actions of others.
A Brighter Future
Our decision doesn’t mean we’ll forget Harvey’s contribution to the industry throughout his career. He has served as a mentor to many. And he has contributed a body of work that served as a badge of pride for all our community. But if Harvey chose to abuse that position, one he had with privilege, then any support or fandom we have becomes instantly irrelevant.
Like the rest of the world, we want a clean industry: one where people feel safe and can trust mentors and inspirations. The Phoblographer remains committed to creating a healthy environment and ensuring a positive experience for those working today and future generations. We can only do that, in part, by making examples of those who let our industry down.
